USA Bassin Season Ending Tournament As you know, the club hosted USA Bassin's final 2009 tournament right here in Gardiner by the edge of the stream on September 27th. 25 fishing teams were in attendance including the 4 GSC teams also fishing for the GSC "Club Cup". Also in attendance were 25 Cub Scouts with their parents from the Lewiston Area and some local families to participate in the days activities. Activities included an Archery Demonstration and participation clinic with The Maine Bowhunters Association, scavenger hunt, participating in the weigh-in and release of the fish, and a fishing clinic after the weigh-in. All kids who attended the fishing clinic received a rod, reel and gift bag. We would like to thank the following in no particular order for making our 2nd tournament a great success: >Webb's Sunoco, The Sportsmen's BARR, and USA Bassin for helping sponsor the 4 GSC teams fishing for the "Club Cup" >Maine Bowhunters Association (Jerome Richard & Russell Corson) for putting on the indoor archery clinic for the attending scouts and kids >CCB, Inc. >WABK >The Gardiner Sportsmen's Club members who helped leading up to the event and throughout the day of the event >USA Bassin and their fishing teams >The four GSC Teams who participated in the tournament and the "Club Cup": the winning team of the inaugural "Club Cup" - Steven Foard and Mel Volan; the team of Harold Jones and Mike Bates; the father/son team of Rich & Jamie Vassoll, and the father/son team of Mark & Cam Estrella. We hope you all had a great time and look forward to your participating next year. >and last but not least...the Lewiston area Cub Scouts and the local friends and family of the fishing teams, USA Bassin and the Gardiner Sportsmen's Club who came to participate in and support the event. Please watch for the 3rd annual event on or about September 26th, 2010

USA Bassin Season Ending Tournament As you know, the club hosted USA Bassin’s final 2008 tournament right here in Gardiner by the edge of the stream on September 28th. The weather didn’t quite cooperate but the day turned out really nice. We had a great crew of club members that helped before, during, and after the event to which without any of them, this could not have happened; thank you to all. We also want to thank WABK for their promotional help and the Lewiston MAINEiacs for donating cool giveaways for the kids. Everyone who attended the event from the fishing teams and their families, the crew of USA BASSIN-Bill Schwarz and Jimmy Lowe, the Fishtunes guy’s-Brian and Gardner Murphy, Toyota Tundra Fishing Pro Gene Ellison “The Fishing Machine”, our visiting vendors from Maine Lake Charts-Tim Thurston and The Sportsman’s BARR-Steve Chaisson, right down to the public who braved the weather, spoke very highly of the event, our facility, our members, our food, and about looking forward to coming again next year.

The 2008 GSC Home Team:As the result of their fine 5th place finish in this tournament held, club members Harold Jones and Mike Bates (GSC’s host team) earned enough points to move-on and participate in Marine USA’s New England Regional being held on LakeWentworth in Wolfeboro, NH. Harold and Mike were on the bubble coming into this tournament and needed a big bag of fish to move on; they didn’t disappoint. With the huge round of applause they received as they entered the scale area, the team felt they had a pretty good catch but didn’t find out about the regionals until a week later. We want to say thank you to Harold and Mike for their participation and the fine way they represented the Sportsmen's Club throughout the tournament. We also want to thank Dan Kilmer at Webb’s Pizza and Steve Chaisson at The Sportsman’s BARR for their support and sponsorship of the team. We really appreciate it and look forward to 2009.
A film by the Fish Tunes guys of the USA Bassin event held at the club in 08.
The Fish Tunes guys talking about what they did in the summer of 08 including coming to the club. Worth a listen.
